Mac Address Book -- Frozen!

So, I'm operating a mac with OS X Version 10.3.8. I added a new address to my Address Book, but now every time I open Address Book the program freezes (and does the spinny-color-wheel thing eternally). I have a feeling that if I just deleted that last address I added, everything would return to normal -- but of course I can't delete it without using Address Book...

Or can I?

Any suggestions?
