got mass effect for the pc as a gift. ( i have the necessary requirements)
popped in the disc, installed directx at the prompt, then installed the game proper.

after installation, i click the "play" function.
now this is where the problem appears.
after a breif pause, a window pops up informing me the program is not responding and i am given the only option but to close the application.

i have uninstalled and reinstalled mass effect a few times already.
every time i try to play it, i get the same crash every time.
any help please?
im new to pc gaming, so this is a huge discouragement to me.
but i really wana pursue it, as well as play mass effect.

wut shud i do?

also note, im running on vistas.

specs again-
nvidia geforce 9600m gs 1gb
intel centrino 2
4 gb ram
