Hello,

I'm running on Windows XP Home Edition, and I have an issue with it. the computer froze one day and i had to forcefully shut it down. I rebooted the computer to find that the computer automatically goes to run a CHKDSK program. The CHKDSK program does the first step fine, but freezes at 3% on step 2, which is verifying indexes. I've tried using Recovery console and command "chkdsk /r /p", but it freezes as well on 25%

i've also tried using F8 to make it boot on "last good configuration" but it still went to CHKDSK. So I don't know what to do...

any help is greatly appreciated; thanks.

Happy New Year,
Eric

sounds like the hard drive has serious problems...
I would try slaving it ( the hard drive) to a working computer and get any data you can't live without backed up before trying anything else...
then try running chkdsk on it while its still slaved to the other system...it may appear to hang for several hours at a particular %...but let it run it usually will complete if you just let it run...there are 5 steps...
