I'm 13 years old and I have a problem with the family's laptop computer. Many popups are popping up when doing work, playing, etc. It only happens when I'm in the internet, and it happens frequently. I want to know if there is a resolution to this, and if there are even more problems that you spot in my HiJackThis log, feel free to notify me. My computer and internet is really slow also (I'm using dial-up!) XD I also have a problem with my Windows Security Alerts, because every time I turn on my computer, it says that my Windows Update is off, and there is a red shield on my taskbar. When I click the icon, a fake popup from firefox pops up and pretends to scan. When I go to the control panels, the update is actually off. Can you also help me with that?

Note: I am a novice when fixing or handling computers, and would be happy to get some detailed descriptions to the steps. I also want my computer to be as safe as possible.

• Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools
  
  
• Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  
  
• As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  
  
• Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:




Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Hello---

Sorry for the late reply. I had some problems- the whole combofix thingy was in chinese which I can't read! I just pressed yes and okay for everything, and one error dialog box popped up, but I just pressed ok. Just when it was about to shut down and restart for the first time, the screen went blue and said something about the computer having a problem- the blue screen was just for about 1 frame, so I couldn't get a glimpse of what it was about. After completing the combofix, I started up AOL but it said that something was blocking it from connecting to the internet. I luckily saved the log onto the desktop and tried to shut down, but it wouldn't let me. I had to reset the computer to let it start up again. Everything worked fine after that. Here is the log and the combofix.txt (some of the words are in chinese)

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)

Cleanup:

Please download OT CLeanit from Here save it to your desktop.
Double click on OT Clean it to run it.
Then click on Clean up.
Restart your computer when prompted.
This will remove what tools we used.

This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.

Spybot Search & Destroy-Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections.

Spyware Blaster - Great prevention tool to keep nasties from installing on your system.

Spywareguard-Works as a Spyware "Shield" to protect your computer from getting malware in the first place.

Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.
