Can anyone please help I am being bombarded with unsuitable websites and cannot keep my homepage on the explorer. I have followed all the stages in the help guide but still have problems ?

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items:

Hi Kc

Had loads of problems last night Popups kept stopping online scanning and dial up kept cutting off, so I will send info from work if thats ok

followed instructions but could not find any files in
C:\Program Files\QuickSearch\QuickSearchBar1_27.dll (file missing)also could not find exe file in C:\WINDOWS\[B]vsnpt513.exe

Found C:\Program Files\Speu\ and deleted folder ok

Is there any other software to download to disk from work and take home to install and run so I can give you the correct info ?

I tried to send this info last night but got this error :

You are running HijackThis from the Desktop; please create a new folder for it and move the program into the new folder

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Lets see if this will finds any hidden Trojan’s http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
This setup contains the free as well as the plus-version of the ewido security suite. After the installation, a free 14-day test version containing all the extensions of the plus-version will be activated. At the end of the test phase, the extensions of the plus version are deactivated and the freeware version can be used unlimited times. The purchased license code of the plus version can be entered at any time.
Ewido will auto-udate tne run a full scan save the log when the scan has finnished.

Please download, install and run this disk cleanup utility called Cleanup version 4.0!

It will get rid of any malware which may be hiding in your temp folders ( a common hiding place). You will also regain a massive amount of disk space. Here is a tutorial which describes its usage:

Check the custom settings to your liking under options, but be sure to delete temporary files and temporary internet files for all user profiles. Also, cleanout the prefetch folder and the recycle bin.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Hi Kc

Seem to be getting somewhere no more nasty popups
but still have icons on desktop

Followed instructions all OK until I tried to find
C:\WINDOWS\vsnpt513.exe
only found C:\WINDOWS\vsnpt513 and deleted (NO EXE file)

When trying to use Pandasoftware, scan error occured when selecting all computor to scan tried several times to no avail ??

Thanks a million for all your help I have spread the word of this website to all who I know

Used RAV AntiVirus online scan seems all clear report below but still have blue screen on desktop with security warning fatal error code can this be removed ??

Please save the content of the box above to an empty file in Notepad. In [color=red]RED only
Save is as desktop.reg
Save it to your desktop
type: all files
Close Notepad.

Doubleclick the file click.reg and grant permission to merge the registry entries.

The last entry will reset their color back to the default Windows XP blue. Note this wont go into effect until after a reboot.

Reboot asa normal

Post a new HJT.log and let me know if you have control of the Desktop Again

Hi Kc,

Again I cannot thank you enough I am not a computor whizz as you will have guessed but the info you gave me was put across in a way that even a novice like me had been able to understand and follow it to the letter.
I will follow the last instructions for the greatest protection from future threats. I am still looking over this website and learning all the time it may take me a while to understand it though.
