Recently when I shut down my computer that has Windows XP installed it takes what in my opinion an exceeding long time to complete the process sometimes in excess of five minutes. Is this normal and or ok and if not what can I do to correct this anomaly.
Any and all response/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

5 minutes is a long time but the causes are one of hundreds. Has it always done this?

Is the rest of the computer generally slow to do anything? General slow-down started around the same time this did?
