Sighhhhhhh....OK, so I got all that handled...Now I'm trying to install SP3, and I'm getting an error message. See attached.

If you know some place to DL SP1 (every SP1 link I find actually takes me to SP3), please let me know.

Thanks, man!!

Heya, Broni!

Sooo, after I did a repair on Windows (which I believe you suggested very early on, but the last time I did a repair, it merely locked me out of Windows), my videos were running perfectly, but my Soudn Driver had been removed. In order to install my Sound Driver, I needed XP to be updated to SP1 (at least). Sooo...I found SP1 on CNET, installed it, installed SP3 along w/my audio driver. And everything is functioning.

I'm going to do another cleaning of my HDD, delete excess folders and malware programs (like MGTools) and the like.

Any other recommendations?

Also, I can't stand that upon start-up I'm asked if I want to start Windows normally or go to the recovery console. Is something you recommend I keep and deal with?

Post your boot.ini file.
How to get a copy of it: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/289022

Is something you recommend I keep and deal with?

Regarding?

Thx!

That should've read "Is THAT something..." re: the Recovery Console. That is, do you recommend I keep that option at start-up, or should I go ahead and post my boot.ini (which I'll probably not get to until tomorrow...I should go to bed already!).

Edit the file, so it reads only this:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

(the last line from your original file is gone)
