I am not a fan of anything made by Symantec but it is better than nothing.
That is enough protection and I would uninstall Windows Defender entirely.
Most of today's infection's get around well known antivirus programs because they test it on them before releasing malware into the wild then it takes the antivirus vendors a few days or so to catch up with the infections.
So it is not uncommon to still get infected with any type of protection.
