I desperately need some Help with this ASAP if at all possible??
I have a samsung sv4002h hard drive, 40gb. With Windows XP pro installed on it. I take care of a 70yr old woman and her 10 yr old adopted granddaughter. I am building the child a computer of her own so she'll stay off grandma's. It was suppose to be a Xmas present, which is now, well past due. I installed windows Xp and other programs and games and such etc...., using my computer. when I install it in a different computer, tower, or which ever you want to refer it as. The computer DOES regonize that its there and installed in setup, but will not boot? In fact, what it does is the windowsxp shows for about 10 seconds then the computer reboots itselfm and will repeat this just like that over and over and over. I did go into repair mode and did fixboot but that doesn't seem to help anything. I KNOW the Drive is good. In fact, it's a good one to say the least.. I need the solution as of like RIGHT AWAY Please. It boots up just fine in my tower and runs just great!! And mine doesn't even have walls!! I mean, Doesn't even have sides. CAN ANYONE HELP ME??? It's driving me crazy!!!

First off, if I had admin rights I would edit your post to make it readable. There is no reason to have the fonts that large! Unfortunately I don't have the rights, so please edit the post yourself and make it normal sized fonts. Thanks!

As for your problem... what you are attempting to do, while not impossible, will not work 99% of the time. The requirement for installing Windows on one machine's harddrive, then sticking the drive into another machine, is that both machines must have the same motherboard, and components. Windows identifies the machine hardware as it installs and builds a code. So... when you took the drive and put it into another machine, Windows knew it wasn't the same machine, and naturally refused to boot. Basically... no can do!

Beyond that, is there a reason why you don't just install Windows while the harddrive is in the machine its going to reside in?

Thank you very much for replying to my post. I fixed my post, I think I did anyways. Had no idea It would turn out that ways. I should have preveiwed it. My first ever, but I'm glad you did tell me about it otherwise, I probably would have continued to look like an idiot.
Anyways, now that that is taken care of, about your reply on my computer issue......
I have learned quite alot concerning computers but there is so very much more I have to learn.
You made it sound so simple. Thank you. I was having a very complicated time with this.
It all makes complete sense to me now.
You asked why didn't I just install hard drive and programs etc...., in the computer it was going to be in in the first place???
I have to be honest and tell you that when I was reading your message, I was asking myself the same question. Like I said before: I'm still learning and still have alot more to learn.
