laptop will not turn on

please help my acer travelmate will not turn on it starts to boot up and then turns off i have tryed a new battery and power supply but still the same fault all i get is a flashing curser on a black screen for about 2 seconds and off she goes could this be the hard drive? :)

Howdy,

Sounds like a motherboard issue. Remove the battery and use the ac adapter to power the machine. What model do you have?

Do you get the BIOS screen? Or does it stop before the BIOS screen? Do the fans spin up properly?
