I am new here, My name is Renetta. I have general knowledge about computers but I am unable to update my system to Windows service pack 2 after I took it to a local repair shop for a new hard drive. Needless to say the repair shop is no longer in business. Can someone help?

Welcome to Geeks to Go!
First a couple questions, I am assuming you have XP SP1 installed right now. Is your computer functioning normally? Are you just trying to do updates? Are you having any other issues?

What kind of other issues are you asking ? I am not really sure, sometimes active desktop doesn't come back and I have to restore.

I am now, but honestly I don't know if I was when the file was downloaded. Should I try to run it again?

The link I sent you will allow you to download the update file to your Desktop. This is different than going through Microsoft Update like your screenshot shows. Make sure you are an admin on the machine and download the file and try to upgrade.

I will download the file from the link you sent and try again. It will take some time so I will get back to you when done. Thank you for trying to assist me.
