how to build a 64 bit computer?

Hardware is the same, the software is different. Yes you can put 64-bit on it if that's what you want.

thanks, just making sure. if i went and installed my vista home premium 64bit, it would read all of my 8gb ram i have installed?

Yes, it should, assuming your motherboard supports 8GB.

that and assuming that it is a 64bit cpu in it as well. as older cpus wont run 64bit at all.

CPUs have been 64bit compatible for a long time now, that shouldn't be an issue.that and assuming that it is a 64bit cpu in it as well. as older cpus wont run 64bit at all.
Running Vista 32bit on a non 64bit compatible CPU would be horrendous, considering all new CPUs that I know of have been 64bit compliant since 2004 when Intel updated the instruction set for their Pentium4 line.

I ran vista ultimate on my old AMD Athlon XP 2400+ system and it was fine. I guess I just tend to think that 64bit is now the new norm of computer CPU's Since most of my computers until I built my new desktop where mainly 32bit and showed no real signs of 64 bit support.

hey, its a 2.0ghz with 2gb of ddr pc-3200 ram. ati hd 2400 pro in it. it's not a bad system, It just cant handle the newer games like crysis.
