Oddly enough, or maybe not, I share my time between browsers. Lately, I've been spending more time in IE8. I think I could argue that FireFox has lost it's security advantage. I'll probably do that soon in a homepage blog post. I really can't believe IE still doesn't have a built-in spell checker. Especially, when it could leverage the power of Word's spell and grammar checking.

FireFox has been a favorite of mine, but it seems the more you use it, the buggier it gets. It also seems slow in comparison to IE8 and Chrome. I sometimes come back to it because of a couple of plug-ins. Chrome is faster on some sites, especially those with lots of javascript (like forums). My favorite feature is the startup page. However, I've just never really liked using it. Maybe it's too minimalistic? What am I using to post this? IE8.

I like it, I just never found a compelling reason to stick with it.

In all honesty, maybe I'm too old. My opinions on browsers were mostly formed when Opera was only available in a paid version. At the time that the free version was made available, I was quite happy with FireFox and it's plugins, and IE prior to that. Even though I forced myself to use it exclusively for a week, I've probably never given it a fair shake.

I read somewhere recently - I wish I could remember where - that you'll be able to use Firefox extensions with Internet Explorer 8.1.

then again maybe I read that on April Fool's Day.

Troy, I agree with admin. I never really gave Opera a full try, I tried it out for a week. I can't really say bad things about it and I would say I think it is actually faster than Firefox. The one main thing I didn't like was the overall "feel" of Opera, and it's layout. If I have to choose a second browser, I would say Opera.

For me it used to be Firefox, exclusively. Tried Chrome on my Vista installation for the sake of experimentation, but there are a few things I don't like about it: Not too comfortable controls (no 'X' button? Arggg....), too few options in 'Options', fewer add-ons, growing general mistrust for Google (heard tales about it sending too much data about me to it's creators)....

I feel I agree with Admin about FF getting buggier with time. Using Chrome at the moment since FF is giving me grief (pages taking forever to load). BTW, if you wanna block adds with Chrome, why not use Privoxy? Worked for me. I think it can also be used with IE.

A couple of browsers with which I didn't get along:

Opera - just didn't like it. To be fair - didn't give it a second chance after first annoying bug (problem with importing bookmarks)
SRWare Iron - All the downs of Chrome, plus it started hanging on some pages pretty quickly.
Safari - was installed on my computer for a whole minute! Then it started using 100% of my CPU.... plus, I didn't like its friends....

What I like about Firefox is that Mozilla always responds to vulnerabilities really fast. I love the add-ons deal in Firefox. Who can be without Firefox?

IE8 is a great improvement, so I agree with everyone on that. IE8 starts just as fast as Firefox...3-5 seconds.

I am glad for how good Firefox has come along! And Internet Explorer.

FWIW, I use Firefox and have for a while now (since at least the 1.0 days). I love the features, and while it sometimes can take a little longer to start, it seems to be more stable than IE was for me. One of the best add-ons that I have found has got to be IE Tab. This allows you to open IE inside a Firefox tab. You can do so by switching once you are on the page, or you can set sites that you want to automatically open in IE (like MS update site, and some other IE only sites). I love it for checking the display differences between browsers and if I need to see something on an IE only site. It is also good for those streaming media sites that use Windows Media player or other ActiveX run controls.

I also have the portable version of FF for my flash drive so I can use it at work and take my favorites and add-ons with me. I have used Opera (portable version) as well, but not enough to intelligently comment on how it is. I actually have Opera-Tor on my flash drive as well for those client machines where the security is questionable.

Never really got into Chrome or Safari. As a geek, I am also ashamed to say that I have not yet given IE8 a try. Perhaps in the next week or so on the new Windows 7 beta VM that I am creating.

Personally i cant stand IE, the look and feel of it are not there for me. My firefox just seems better

I use Firefox version 2.0 and 3.0 but I prefer the older version. I've tried IE and it's just not for me.
