I have several user accounts on the PC of which only three have been infected. I have run all the recommended packages to no avail. On my wife's account you cannot even delete the temporary IE files...from the options menu as the system hangs. Here is the latest Hijack this log file.

Hi Simon, welcome to GTG! <_<

Click here to download and install Registrar Lite. Install, run, copy and paste this line to reglite's address bar:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\\AppInit_DLLs

and hit the "go" tab. Find: "Appinit_Dlls" value on the right side panel, DoubleClick, copy and post here the information in the 'Value' field.

Click here or here to download FindnFix.exe by freeatlast. Double-click on the FINDnFIX.exe and it will install a folder called FINDnFIX on your system. Go to that folder and double-click on !LOG!.bat. The program takes a few minutes to collect the necessary information. When done post the contents of Log.txt in this thread.

Please post the log file if found. It helps us see that the file was identified correctly. <_<

Open the FINDnFIX folder and then open the keys1 folder. Right-click on the MOVEit.bat file and select 'edit'. That will open the file as an empty text file - copy and paste this line into the blank file:

move C:\WINDOWS\System32\wdmco.dll C:\WINDOWS\junkxxx\wdmco.dll

Save the file and close. The next step will cause a restart. Still in the keys1 folder, double click on FIX.bat. You will get an alert of about 15 seconds before reboot - allow it to reboot.

On restart, open the FINDnFIX folder again and double-click on RESTORE.bat. When it is finished, in FINDnFIX folder, there will be a file called Log1.txt - post it's contents in your next reply.

Occasionally when trying to edit the MOVEit.bat file the following error occurs: "Windows cannot find "C:FINDnFIX\keys1\MOVEit.bat. Make sure you typed the name correctly then try again."

If that happens, skip that step and proceed this way instead. In the keys1 folder, double click on FIX.bat. You will get an alert of about 15 seconds before reboot - allow it to reboot. On restart, open Explorer and navigate to C:\Windows\System32 folder, find the wdmco.dll file (it should be visible now). Highlight the file and using top menu, click Edit>Move to folder...

Select C:\junkxxx as destination. Move the file.

Open the FINDnFIX folder again and double-click on RESTORE.bat. When it is finished, in FINDnFIX folder, there will be a file called Log1.txt - post it's contents in your next reply.

I have the file, but no means of opening it. Nothing seems to work. Notepad, Paint, Real player have all disappeared or stopped working. Real player shows it is functioning but there is no audio out of the soundcard.....

I tried word and did a conversion.....

You seem to have something else affecting your system. Please run a free online virus scan here:
http://housecall.antivirus.com/

And a free trojan scan here:
http://www.moosoft.com/

Next, Click Start -> Run, and type sfc /scannow

Nearly there, open the FINDnFIX folder again and open the Files2 folder. Double-click on the ZIPZAP.bat. It will quickly clean the rest and will make a copy of the bad file(s) in the same folder (junkxxx.zip) and open your email client with instructions. Simply drag and drop the junkxxx.zip file from the folder into the mail message and submit to the specified addresses.

Please be sure to include a link to this thread in the body of your email. Reboot when done, then delete the entire FINDnFIX folder. Could you click here to download CWShredder by Merijn Bellekom and run it, hit 'fix' as opposed to 'scan only'. If you already have CWShredder, click 'Check for update'. All that happens is that the bloody hijack just spawns a new set of registry settings.
I am now also picking up a Cannot find SHELL.... error and a pe2sock something or other cannot be found.

You have a completely different hijack now <_<

Please download this tool called About:Buster from:
http://www.geekstogo...=download&id=25

But, don't run it yet.

Now start Hijackthis and tick the boxes next to these items:
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = res://sjfqt.dll/index.html#96676
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\sjfqt.dll/sp.html#96676
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\sjfqt.dll/sp.html#96676
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = res://sjfqt.dll/index.html#96676
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {761C66EE-0837-9E38-E38C-CF55B27FF978} - C:\WINDOWS\appco32.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MyWebSearch Email Plugin] C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\bar\1.bin\mwsoemon.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [netag.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\netag.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RegCompres] C:\WINDOWS\System32\REGCPM32.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DSB] C:\Program Files\DSB\DSB.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [atltw.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\atltw.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [wincp32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\wincp32.exe
O4 - Global Startup: MyWebSearch Email Plugin.lnk = C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar\1.bin\MWSOEMON.EXE
O18 - Protocol: icoo - {4A8DADD4-5A25-4D41-8599-CB7458766220} - C:\WINDOWS\msopt.dll

Now close ALL windows and hit fix checked.
Do not open internet explorer to come back here until after running the tool.

Double click aboutbuster.exe, click OK, click Start, then click OK. This will scan your computer for the bad files and delete them.

Once the tool is done scanning, copy the log and paste it into your thread.

Restart your computer and post the report and a new Hijack this log.

Thanks, I will try this. It is not a new hijack...it is still the same "search-all-fast" Home Search. When deleting the obvious registry files it spawns a new one. I suspect there is a hidden EXE file somewhere that I have not found...

OK that seems to have solved the hijack. One small issue remaining...when opening a useraccount the following appears
Error loading p2esocks_1012.dll. Any suggestions.

Thanks for all the help, I think between AdAware, Spybot, hijack this, buster, stinger and a few others and your excellent advice we may just have cracked this one.
