"Spy" down browser, can't run Spybot

I have one 1st set of things as requested

The problem began when I tried to load spybotSD - the program loaded but when it started to run it shut down immediately. I downloaded the most recent version, same thing. Same with spywareblaster. However, Adaware loaded and ran o/k. Also, Spybot would run in "safe" mode, but did not find anything and I could not "immunize."

When I do a websearch for anything containing the word "spy" the browser shuts down - I have loaded the most recent versions of mozilla and opera, both do the same thing. I have tried multiple search engines - google, yahoo, lycos, A9, netscape. Also, when I try to open a web page containing "spy" (i.e. http://www.able2know...0-0-asc-0.html) it closes the browser, but curiously, this web page (geekstogo) seems o/k.
