okay, i finally have my xbox 360 up and running, my goal was to be able to stream media from my laptop to my tv wirelessly, and i can do that now, im not using media centre as it wouldnt allow me to play any files, instead i enabled media sharing and am now simply going to the videos section on my xnox, then i select my computer, then i select the videos folder, my problem now is i want to add other folders here

im running windows vista, i think its the home edition, not too sure, jus came with me laptop,
the folders im able to access are
User\music
User\videos
User\Pictures

id like to add
c:\dtv
to my xbox, what can i do?

also, i havent attempted it yet but i will soon, i have a 1tb fat32 external usb drive, can i hook this into the back of the xbox and play videos from there? would the xbox also support hd movies from the 1tb drive

also, sorry to the mods if i have posted in the wrong place, took a few minutes and this seemed most appropriate, if im wrong sorry for any inconvenience

Hello and It's nice to see a long time registered user still asking for assistance.

Where did you enabled media sharing? Are you running it through windows media player? Which dashboard are you running NXE or Original? And just to let you know, Xbox 360 can only support Certain formats. an update is available through Xbox Live to allow AVI, WMV, ect.. If you know that the Video Format is supported by the 360, then I can suggest a portable hard drive. Even Though that may not be an option, it might be something to look into. I currently use a portable hard drive and it saves alot of time and bandwidth. i have 60 movies and currently over 10,000 songs. I use the Portable hard drive because i play xbox live and listen to music. Therefor, it does not take bandwidth away from Xbox Live connection.
