Hi,

I have a Compaq Presario 5000 Internet PC Model Number 5BW250. I cant seem to get it to wotk with my new Flat Screen monitor. The model of the monitor is Dell 1801FP. It gets to the Windows loading screen (Running Windows ME) After it loads, it says "Can't display Video mode" I have another computer running Windows 2000 and it works just fine under the monitor. Is it just ME thats the problem, or is there a driver I need to get?

Thanks,

It looks like ME video card doesn't support monitor resolution, or refresh rate. How are those two set on 2000, and ME?

Also, does ME have any driver for that monitor installed?

No, where can I get one? I have a CD somewhere. I will have to find it.

Have you tried reloading the compaq drivers? I have had no problems hooking flat panels to older Win ME computers.

You could also try installing a older Nvidia TNT 32 video card in the computer to be able to usea flat panel.

PCI

I would not spend any more money than the above for that old of a computer.

Go in to the display in control panel, and look at the advanced tab. (Or it may be "settings"... no OS specified) you're looking for "Hardware acceleration" When you find it, reduce it a notch until either the problem goes away or you run out of notches.

You can also try degaussing the monitor. This is usually a problem with the monitor itself. If degaussing does not work you will have to live with it as the monitor is dying slowly.

I got it fixed. When I put it in 1152 by 864, it got 'blurry', like the words got kinda hard to read. So I put it in 1024 by 768 and its not hard to read, so im happy now. Thanks for the help everyone. Someone can close this topic now.

Does Windows ME support flash drives? I tried using it. It shows as added hardware, but it doesn't show in My Computer.

How do you copy a file to a flash drive on ME? WHen I right click the file, and click Send To, there is no link to send it to the Flash drive. Any advice?

You would need to install the drivers for the flash card in order for it to work on ME.
Most drives will not work on anything under win 2000 without the drivers.
