Your disc drive might be dirty, or the formatted partition might not be working correctly. how did you partition??

I made the partiton a while ago to install debian in, so I just booted my gparted disk and formatted the partition to ntfs. I've also tried just leaving it as unutilized space, and the same result occurs.

I have had heard of a few mentions of problems with Gparted and Win7. I will look and see if I can find them again, mainly though it was windows constantly requiring checkdisks and finding nothing wrong then wanting a checkdisk again.

I used GParted to shrink my Vista partition so that I could have a 30 gig partition for Windows 7 and after I installed I only had to run chkdsk once and haven't had to run it again since and I have probably booted up at least half a dozen times since.
I am running the 32 bit version by the way.

I am getting this error, except in slightly different circumstances. I have downloaded the 64 bit version (I have an athlon x2 64) and burned it to a CD, checking the SHA1 and MD5 checksums before doing so (and verifying the data afterwards). I am trying to dual-boot the system, keeping XP on a large partition and putting Win7 on a 100gb partition, which was made using gparted. I have noticed that the installer behaves very strangely, so I would like to see if these occurrences are normal or not.

-After the new Windows logo appears, with "starting windows" below it, the installer goes to a screen with the bluish background and just the cursor. The loading symbol stays for about 15 seconds or so, then disappears and the system just sits on this screen for about 4 minutes doing nothing; no cd reads, no audible reading of the hard drive, nothing.

-Eventually the Windows 7 screen appears that asks for Language, Time and Currency Format, and Keyboard layout. I hit next, then "Install Now" on the nest screen, and a screen that says "Setup is Loading" appears, again with the loading cursor. It sits on this screen for another 4 minutes, with nothing else on the screen.

-Again, eventually the license agreement page comes up. I accept, and then choose to do a custom install for the dual-boot. I choose to use the 100gb ntfs partition I created with gparted and click next.

-On the "Installing Windows" screen, the first step is "copying files." The progress percentage goes from 0% to 100% in one step, taking about 1 second.

-The nest step, "Expanding Files", sits on 0% progress for a couple of minutes. It then slowly creeps to 3%, where this error occurs and I am forced to restart.

What parts of this process are abnormal, and what should I do to try to correct them? I must also note that gparted said it detected "bad sectors" on my hard drive, but I doubt these are the problem; installing linux and windows XP pose no problems. Also the installation never asked for a CD key; perhaps I never got that far.

Any help is appreciated.

mine is exactly the same,
i have downloaded both version of this twice burnt them off to dvd's and always get that problem
when loading them onto a virtual drive it says that the version of windows is not supported and goes nowhere

i am atm downloading it again through another computer on my network i will let you know how i go after i have downloaded re burnt and reinstalled again

zzz, saw somewhere on my google browsing that it may be due to the download manager from microsoft and an error in that, note trying to use a different computer this time that has not attempted the download yet meaning new manager

Hey man, I had the exact same problem as you described above. To fix it, make sure when you're creating the VM to "preallocate" the drive. I'm almost sure this will fix it. Let me know if it does.

this is the 5th time i download build 7000 and every time my md5 is different.
i am extremely frustrated and just dont know what to do...

after using another computer to download the install everything is working perfectly and i'm loving windows beta 7

so maybe there is problems with the manager from the windows site...

anyway all good now

well i downloaded again on a different computer and guess what? same problem. MD5 is STILL different.
the setup screws up at about 35% while doing the "copying files" thing.

i really wish they'd allow people to not use the stupid download manager... i think its whats causing the problems

okay i have tried all of the above besides downloading from a separate system and burning it again. my md5 matches for both downloads that i downloaded to the earlier mentioned md5 ( f9dce6ebd0a63930b44d8ae802b63825 ). i have a freshly formatted 300 gig maxtor drive that i'm installing on, dual boot with windows XP. every time i start the download it runs through copying system files, then moves on to expanding files, during that time anywhere between 38% and 68% (different every time) it gives me the 0x80070570 error. i have tried burning multiple copies at multiple speeds using both my 6 month old burner and my older burner. have unzipped it with winrar and installed, and mounted image to virtual drive through power iso. every time i get the same error... i'm not understanding what the [bleep] is going on.. if anyone could please help i would be very grateful as for i have been working with this for the last three days and would like to have it work.

Hey Guys

I see you have sorted this out but thought I would let you know my fix. I had the exact same probs installing it into VMware Workstation 6. Fixed it by setting the hard drive to at least 16GB and allocating all the space when creating it. I think it has problems copying to a vmware "thin disk".

Hey man, I had the exact same problem as you described above. To fix it, make sure when you're creating the VM to "preallocate" the drive. I'm almost sure this will fix it. Let me know if it does.

I did prelocated the 16 gb disc in wmware 8 machine with a 32 bit beta 7000 windows 7 iso imagefile. but still having same problem.
l dont have more time to download it again cos it takes one day for me at least

This error is very common and it is because main due to bad disk drive check out this 80070570, bad hard drive

i had the same problem installing new window 7 on my new pc. i been burn n re-burn like 10 diff disc but still not working.. here is the checksum for my window7..

hi, i have had the same problem installing windows7. I have try everything. Still can't get it install. So, if the file is corrupt. How come with the same disc i can install it on my different computer but not to the one i'm just build?
