Hi Please help! I have been getting loads of aurora pop ups when using internet explorer and eventually last night I lost my internet connection completly. I had a message appear "16bit MS-Dos subsystem C:\windows\system32\command.com - C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt - system file not suitable for running ms-dos and windows application." I use Windows XP and am on BT Broadband. I went into BTBroadband help and it said that my internet connection settings had been changed. I restored them and managed to connect however, using internet explorer I only can stay on for about 30 seconds before it disconnects me and the msdos subsytem message appears. If I use Netscape Navigator, I can stay on for about 15 minutes and do not get as many aurora pop ups. Each time I have to restore my connection settings. It also sounds as if the modem is trying to do something in between loosing connection and getting the message for about 20 seconds in which time I cannot restore my settings. (I am sorry if this is confusing but trying to get down as much info as I can!!) I have followed the steps given in this forum, running ad-aware, spybot, avg etc , all apart from trend housecall as I cannot access the downloaded file for some reason. I have posted my hijack this log and would be grateful for any information which would help. Many thanks in anticipation :tazz:

Welcome to GTG.

You have a bad one there. Let's do this now:

Download ewido security suite from here http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Update it’s database from here.. http://www.ewido.net...wnload/updates/
Run a scan and let it clean the PC. Post a new hijackthis log when complete.

**Note** DO NOT REBOOT THE PC During the removal process. If you do the filenames will change. Try to keep your computer on until I come back with a fix. Otherwise, wait until you can leave the computer on before running the new HijackThis and FindIt's log.

Download FindIt's.zip to your desktop: http://forums.net-in...=post&id=142443

1. Unzip/extract the files inside to a folder on your desktop.
2. Open the folder and run FindIt's.bat and wait for notepad to open a text file. It will take awhile so please be patient ...
3. Then post the results here please, along with the new HijackThis log.

No problem. OK, did you download the zip file yet? Or is the problem there?
