i wanted to download the erunt program, but it's not for vista?
what should i do instead of using erunt?

should i uninstall norton antivirus since it expired and i have avg free?

ERUNT works fine on Vista. Just make sure you run the program with admin rights.

I'm running the erunt program as the admin
and when i tried to run it, i got a message that said

registry backup will continue, but no restore information
for the erdnt program will be saved. this means that
later restoration of the registry can only be done manually,
by using another os to copy the back up files.

and then another message came up

error saving file

C\Windows\ERDNT\4-2-2009\SECURITY!

Continue with the next file?

Is that normal? >_<

Hey Lady_Hime,

Open start and in the white box type ERUNT
Right click ERUNT and select Run as Administrator

You should get the ERUNT window open and should be able to run it fine

ok, i know i'm a bit annoying with all of the questions, but does malwarebytes work fine on vista 64 bit because it only says vista 32 bit?

i have a feeling this might be the wrong place to post this but i'm desperate to figure out what's going on with my comp.

i've finished downloading everything so i'm thinking mostly everything is wiped out???
i talked to a friend the other day and i told him that almost 50% of my RAM is being used immediately after startup. after downloading all of the programs, my RAM starts at 40%.... i'm thinking this might not be normal.
if it's not, what should i do?

Do you mean - I've downloaded, installed, updated and ran all the security programmes (recommended somewhere on this site), and you expect most of the malware to be gone from your computer as a result?

I think it takes care of the bulk, leaving the more unique & nasty nasties behind - or else, there would be no need for the malware removal forum, would there?
When you're done scanning and installing AV & Firewall, if you wanna be sure your computer is really clean, you need to go to the Malware Removal Forum and consult the experts there.

I run Vista and it takes most of my RAM at startup (this includes Anti-virus, Firewall, and, well, browser : )). You really need to be more specific when asking a technical question - how much RAM do you have? What programmes do you have installed, what are your system specs?

I have 1GB. For Vista, it's enough, but more is better. Vista is HUNGRY.

hmm, i have a 4GB RAM for vista. as for programs, like all the programs? i do have the avg, windows defender, spyware blaster, super antispyware, the windows firewall and aim running at start up in addition to the windows gadgets... but should they take up approximately 40-50% of the RAM?

i'm just concerned, you know...

I'm not the right person to answer that. We should wait for one of the tech-savvy people....
But from my little experience with Vista - it takes up a lot more resources than XP.
