Is there something wrong with this feature, or...?
I open main page, and I even wait 30 sec, or so, then when I click on "Today's active topics", I got this:
Sorry, the board administrator has enabled search flood control. Please wait at least 15 seconds before trying again.
Why?

I think "Today's active posts" uses the forum search feature. You can only search one in 15 seconds to prevent server lag, spammers, and the like. Same applies with posts :)
