So i rarely have had a virus problem in the past 3 years or so of using this computer. But it has finally struck.. and hard.. There are at least 2 virus' im pretty sure are taking over. One is this dumb "Virus Removal 2008" that from what i've researched is easy enough to destroy manually. the real problem lies in once i start my computer up.. maybe 30.. 45secs on the desktop it reboots itself.. making it just about impossible to do anything. How can I fight this thing? I'm willing to buy some software especially so that I can fix it easily should this happen again. Norton or someone have anything you guys recommend?

one minute downloading something off the web.. the next.. doom.

Thanks,
Peter

Hello phrige...

Please go to the Malware Forum and follow the steps you'll find there.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- post a hijackthis log in THAT forum. Do Not reply to or "bump" your own topic...if it shows a reply, it may be overlooked as one that is being worked on.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
