Programs very slow to start

When I first start my computer everything appears to work correctly for no longer than 5 minutes. After that programs open painfully slow, even programs that are fairly light like notepad.exe (painfully slow being defined as about 2 minutes for notepad to start). By quickly launching task manager before the five minutes are up I've watched that the 'notepad.exe' process shows up immediately but there is a 2 minute delay before notepad actually shows up on the explorer bar and as a window thats viewable. Task manager shows my CPU useage at 2 or 4% and 98% is in System Idle Process. There doesn't appear to be any processes that are taking up a large amount of memory or large IO reads/writes. If I reboot the cycle just starts over ... ~5 minutes of correct behavior then long load times.

I have followed all steps in the 'You Must Read This Before Posting A Hijackthis Log, Malware Cleaning Guide' and here is my HijackThis log:
