Sometimes it doesn't happen, it seems to be totally random. I don't have any clue what's causing this whatsoever, so I'm afraid I can't provide any more information that I'm sure is relevant. If anyone has any idea about why this is happening, please help me out. This is getting really quite annoying .

I would start with standard maintenance such as:
2) Run a full disk check including 'automatically fix errors' and 'scan for and automatically detect bad sectors'.
3) If you don't have CClean download it from here: http://www.ccleaner.com/
a) Then run the cleaner: click on Brush at top left
b) Then go to Tools: click on the wrench on the left, and click on STARTUP. Take a long look at the programs you have opening at startup
Other than that I can't think of anything to check at this time, perhaps this will give you more information. It could be your first indication of a piece of hardware going bad, but the problem is that it could be anything from your power supply to your mother board.
Perhaps others can give you some other/better advice.
Write back with any more information asap.
