The instructions for checking filters that happyrock provided will work for Vista, as well. Before you take it in, have a look to see if LowerFilters and/or UpperFilters have been set on the optical drive.

Well we took it back today and it turned out to be a software problem so they have given us a new one that they found in the back because they didn't think they had any in stock. The dvd drive works fine on it now but my son is now having trouble setting his wireless network up because it won't set up when he puts the disk in.
