Cant install java

i need java for frostwire to run - and i know java is not working because frostwire says it needs a java environment for it to work (like that's an error message popping up telling me there's no java) and the java site says there is no java installed
so i went to the java website to download java , i downloaded it and when it went to install it said i already have java and would i like to reinstall it (tried that several times but still no frostwire working)
so i went to uninstall anything java through add/remove programs , so i could reinstall it
i uninstalled a whole bunch of java stuff and deleted the java folder through regedit
everything uninstalled except java 6 update 11 which says fatal error during installation when i try to remove it
so what do i need to do to get java working ?

really appreciate the help
