My HP laptop wont recognize charger?

Hey everyone i got a hp dv 2000 laptop. got it last year. anyways, no problems till now.

I did a virus scan in the afternoon ( first one in a couple months) and it found and deleted some infections then i restarted and now my laptop wont recognize the charger.

ive tried using just the battery and plug in both tims and only the battery works. ive tried diff outlets and nothing.

sugestions?

Either a bad connection in the dc jack or the power supply is defective.
