I have so many sites when i look at my favorites. some are just so I can get back to a site maybe even less than once a year. Is there a way to put these some place else so I can just use them when needed. Instead of having to go thru all of them when going to a much used site ?

Of course. Click on "add a favorite" then on export. Export the ones you want to a folder of your choice.

Or, you can copy the favorites you need to a folder of your choice.

I think social bookmarking services allow to hide unused bookmars. Not sure, though.
