Sims2 textures fixed by removing QuickTime

My daughter's XP pro system spends a lot of time in Sims 2. Recently, textures were messed up in Sims 2 running with AnyGame starter. There were multiple graphics anomolies - textures of random things suddenly seemed minimum resolution. Water reflections of a bridge in one game looked like black clouds. Grass in another game was affected. QuickTime had been installed for a special project just before the trouble started. When QuickTime was uninstalled, everything seems to be back to normal.
