Skype calls aren't free except for Skype-to-Skype users, but it is as cheap as you'll find for making world-wide phone calls from your computer. Within the US, its about 2.4 cents per minute. Other services at additional monthly costs...like call forwarding.

I do not have a credit card. Does Skype deduct from your checking account or by invoice? Also, how do you by credit from Skype?

A credit card to buy Skype credits to use for phone calls to non-Skype users would be best. Might find an alternative way to pay HERE.
