I restarted my PC one day to find my desktop gone, replaced by a blue screen that says something about a fatal error and mentions "Trojan-Spy.HTML.Suitfraud.c", it obviously isn't a real windows error, I figured it was either a virus or spyware when I first saw it. Especially when I see new desktop icons for internet dating and gambling sites, along with new favorite places in my IE and pop-ups galore. I was sort of puzzled at first of why my anti-virus didn't pick it up right away, and then I came here. I downloaded all the programs it said to on this site, ran the scans and everything, it's still there. I'm guessing that this is undetectable or too new, so I downloaded Hi-JackThis and this is what the log said:

I'm no computer genius, but I see that qfind.net is all over the place, so I'm guessing these are the idiots that did it. Anyone that could help me with fixing this problem, it would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ryan

I had no problem completing all of the steps you asked, besides using hoster.exe to restore my original hosts. It wouldn't let me click the button for some reason. Kind of weird. Anyway, here is my virus scan and HijackThis log.

Ah, I see the possible reason for not being able to run Hoster. We'll fix that!

While I look over your HJT log and ActiveScan logs, do this for me:

1. Click Start > Control Panel.

2. Double-click the Java icon (coffee cup) in the control panel. (Let me know if it says "Java Plug-in" under the icon because you won't be able to follow my directions if it does.)

3. Click Settings under Temporary Internet Files.

4. Click Delete Files.

There are three options on this window to clear the cache - leave ALL 3 checked.
1. Delete Files
2. View Applications
3. View Applets

5. Click OK on Delete Temporary Files window.
Note: This deletes ALL the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the CACHE.

6. Click OK on Temporary Files Settings window.

7. Click OK to leave the Java Control Panel.

Somewhere on the Java Plug-in Control Panel there is a button to "update". Press the button to download/install the updates. Reboot your computer and follow my previous instructions.
