Hello,

I would appreciate any help you can offer. I'm getting inundated with pop-ups. Here's my HJT log. Also getting a E2Give pest in pest patrol that won't go away.

Hi Dave and welcome to Geeks to go, I have merged your topics and will move it back to the malware forum,
You have a few issues here,

First,
Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT
Move HJT into this new folder please

Next.
Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please run Notepad and copy the following text into a new file:

sc stop SvcProc
sc delete SvcProc

attrib -s -r -h svcproc.exe

Save the file to the desktop as remove.bat and make sure the "Save as type" field says "All files".

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on remove.bat. A window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Post the log from the scan here for me.

Then please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

I merged your topics, There was no need to start a new one,

First:
Please download ewido security suite it is a trial version of the program.

• Install ewido security suite
• Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
• The program will prompt you to update click the OK button
• The program will now go to the main screen

You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.

• On the left hand side of the main screen click update
• Click on Start

The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
Once the updates are installed do the following:

• Click on scanner
• Make sure the following boxes are checked before scanning:
  • Binder
  • Crypter
  • Archives
• Click on Start Scan
• Let the program scan the machine

While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report

• Click Save report
• Save the report to your desktop

Reboot your machine and post back a new HJT log and the ewido .txt log file you saved by using Add Reply

I ran the ewodo security suite. With 92% complete, I got the "SecuritySuite.exe has encountered a problem and must close" message. I ran it twice more with the same result. I couldn't get a copy of the log.

Make sure you can view all Hidden Files/Folders
Next,
Reboot into SAFE MODE

Run a scan with Ewido,

Next while still in safe mode

Please restart HJT put a check next to the following, close all open windows and click “Fix Checked”

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe


Now search for and if found delete,

C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

Next reboot to normal mode please,

Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the services called:

System Startup Service

or

SvcProc

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok.

Open HiJackThis, click on "None of the above, just start the program". Now, click on the "Config" button (bottom right), then click on "Misc Tools", then click on "Delete an NT Service" a window will pop up. Enter the below item into that field (make sure there are NO spaces before or after the name):

SvcProc
Click OK.

It should pull up information about the service, then ask if you want to reboot. Click YES.

Post a new HiJackThis log after it reboots and let me know if you received any error messages.

I didn't receive any errors, but the Nail.exe was still there. Below is the new HJT log.

BTW, here are some other things happening. When I run the ewido security suite, just before I get the "encountered an error" problem at 92.1%, I'm told that psis80ex.ax is found in an archive somewhere, and I'm asked if I want to delete the whole archive. I did, then I got the error.

Also, ewido keeps popping up with a message that mvovryaoeyw.exe is being found. I keep hitting "clean" but it keeps popping up.

Download XP FIX.exe and save it to your desktop or to another location where you can find it. Double click on the file to run it once it's downloaded. If problem reoccurs in the future, simply re-run this program.
