So my friends on his PS3, I'm on my laptop trying to get his computer to work.

From what he's told me, he was doing a virus scan because he kept getting a lot of pop-ups, and his computer froze so he had to restart. So now his computer will go to a blue screen for a split second, which he was unable to read, then it restarted.

And now it apparently goes to the screen where you can pick safemode, normal mode, etc etc whatever that is. I told him to try safemode, but it goes to the blue screen and restarts.

Unfortunately, that's all the information that he gave me, so any help you could provide would be much appreciated. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, but he is on Windows XP.

1. If you have Windows CD, follow the steps from here: http://icrontic.com/...pair_windows_xp

2. If you don't have Windows CD...
Download Windows Recovery Console: http://www.thecomput...om/files/rc.iso
Download, and install free Imgburn: http://www.imgburn.c...hp?act=download
Using Imgburn, burn rc.iso to a CD.
Boot to the CD...let it finish loading.
When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
Then, follow the steps from here: http://icrontic.com/...pair_windows_xp, starting below this picture on page 1:
