Hi,
I have all sorts of the same pop-ups that have been discussed in other topics, but cannot get rid of mine. Searchem.net, yellow triangle with pop-ups in my taskbar, "popuper.exe"... the list goes on... I have followed several instructions on how to rid mine by using other people's topics since the symptoms are the same, I even thought I had them all gone, but I am still getting them.

I would appreciate any help!

Yes, thank you... I believe I am still not out of the woods yet...

As you will see, many things have been eliminated, based on following other posts and the Ewido Security Suite's good job of finding the stuff that all the other security software missed.

However, I am no expert... I don't know if there is more SpyWare/MalWare/AdWare... hidden in my system...

I have two logins in Safe Mode: Administrator and default... and I don't know if that makes a difference for finding things.

Also, my settings are all screwed up... I went into regedit and fixed my background settings, but other things are messed (like my menu bar at the bottom looks like Win98 instead of XP)... can you help?

I am at work right now, but will post a fresh HijackThis lag at lunch... any other logs from other programs? Let me know...

Here's the new HJT log... I tried several times to remove that one item... but to no avail.

I'm also getting a lot of "cannot find server errors" now... I run my laptop (this one we're working on through a wireless router with a desktop. Up to now, no problems with these types of errors...

Yes, the problem seems to be intermitant... but most sites seem to be slow loading up or else the server is unavailable.

I performed the following "tweaks" along with your instructions before noticing this problem:

1. Turned off Windows Messenger: "RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove"

2. Turned off indexing to speed up response time.

3. Turned off hibernation.

Is my cumputer clean? Or is this internet problem a result of more mal-ware?

Thank you very much!!! I will look into the connection issues... I'm sure I can get my laptop running smoothly again... I used it last night for a while and it was actually pretty good.

This was definately a learning experience! My main pc is pretty well protected, and I thought my laptop would be "ok for now" until I could get to it... amazing how fast and how little it takes to become infected with that kind of crap. And why do people bother creating it anyway?
