What program?
Post full error message.
Does the computer fully boot to Normal/Safe Mode?
Did you try System Restore?

It looks like some system file got messed up...

Go Start>Run ("Start Search" in Vista), type in:
sfc /scannow
Click OK (hit Enter in Vista).
Have Windows CD/DVD handy.
If System File Checker (sfc) will find any errors, it may ask you for the CD/DVD.
If sfc won't find any errors in Windows XP, it'll simply quit, without any message.

Actually, I've never used Ghost, so I'm not very familiar with it.
Since the situation changed completely, I think, you can safely start a new topic on it.
