HELP! win xp sp2 freezing

Hi,
I have a P3 933 mHZ with a 2x128mb SDRAM and a 20 gig HD. I once in a while experience the PC hanging before installing SP2 but when i installed SP2, it has become really annoying as i have to manually turn the PC off.

This usually happens when i run norton virus 2005 scan and some other times when i try to open multiple programs. help!!!
