From time to time I have to format my HDDs & install Win XP ( Pro ) and several applications on more than 4 computers. That takes too much time.

Is there a way I can do that once on one hard disk & save it in some way on a DVD & then auto install it on several hard disks ?

I am not a techi so any names of software & step by step help would be highly appreciated.

Thank You.

Hi georgetok!

There are a couple of different ways of doing what you're wanting to do. The easiest way would be to use some sort of disk imaging software. Disk imaging basically copies whatever you want on to a DVD/DVD's so that you can restore it at any time. Basically you'd be able to setup a PC how you wanted it, make an image and then restore the image to another PC in next to no time.

One of the most popular imaging tools is Acronis True Image but there are plenty of others to choose from.

As with any imaging process the PC models should ideally be the same as restoring an image on to a completely different PC might leave the PC unable to boot or may leave it with other software issues.
