disk defrag wont work

When I click on disk defrag from system tools I get an error message that MMC cannot open the file C:/windows32/dfrag.msc

I am not sure if you have malware or not based on the location you listed.

The defrag for XP is located in C:\WINDOWS\system32

Go to start-> run and type in dfrg.msc and then hit ok

What happens?

the file does not exist or I do not have rights to access.........I'm logged in as the administrater the only person on this machine so what gives

Download the .msc file association fix from here:
http://www.dougknox....c/xp_mscfix.zip
Unzip downloaded file.
Right click on xp_mscfix.reg, click Merge
Allow registry merging.

Restart computer.

Yes I did but nothing worked....So I had to format and start over and now all is working fine after a couple of days finding all updates ( i did forget to save my favorites) trying to remember what Ihad on here but we are fine and thanks for all the ideas....I know where to go next time I have a problem
