Which version of Firefox are you running, and what addons do you have installed?

To find out the version: Help -> About Firefox

To find out Addons: Tools -> Addons.

Download no_sound_in_browsers.reg file to your desktop.
Double click on it, and allow registry merge.
Restart computer.
