hey all,

umm, this is a little new to me, but resently i got a new computer, it worked fine,it was in a nice open room ect.

I was playing a game (Counter Strike) and had WMP in the back ground,

I can useally do this with no problems,

But after about half an hour of playing i could smell something burning, and over looked it,

about 15 minets later, my roof had a nice layer of smoke under it, and the smell was throughout my room,

after a bit of googleing, i came up with something about my power bow not being good enuff, and it burning out/over heating, could this realy of happend?

i have a thing called pc probe 2, with should tell me when it overheats, but it didnt beep, allso my computer is set to shut down at a sertent temp.

i have no idear, but any help would be loved, thanks. i realy miss my computer.

:)

Do not use that computer at all until you find and fix the problem!

Completely unplug it from everything else.

Then open up the case and see if you can pinpoint any damage. Do not open up the PSU.

I strongly advise that you take it to a competent computer repair shop if you don't know what you are doing.

Hey, i have taken your advise, and taken it to MSY (the shop in witch i got the computer and all its componets from),

they pluged it in, did there thing, and within 5 minets, could tell me that my powerbox, or psu( i dont know what this is lol) had heated to a temp, where the plactic around the wire had melted, creating smoke, and shooting it out the back of the computer (getting a push via the exhaust fan).
He called a shop, and my new power box should be in bye tomorrow or the next day.

i would just like to thank you all for your help, i will post my update when my computer is back,

I was starting to turn crazy with out my baby, hahha.

Till then,

Ta.

MSY is in Brisbane, no?

If that's the right store, you must be close.

Glad to know they found the problem.
