I am having a problem a few times a week with an IE session crashing on me when I use my Ameritrade trading site and their real-time Streamer Application with uses Java. Here is the error log that is placed on my desktop when it occurs.
Any help appreciated.

Hi Pieter,

Nice to chat with you again since you helped clean up my old PC with spyware issues (plus the education on preventative measures) last December.

This problem occurs on a new PC with XP that is up to date. Regarding the Java, if your question is whether the version of Java I'm using is current, the 4.1_02 is cuurent. I even uninstalled once and reinstalled. Thought I had it resolved but then it started again.

I found this thread at the java developers forum:

http://forum.java.su...threadID=449607

Does it ring any bells as to using a certain font that sets of the error?

Well I do have XP Pro. I'm not sure about the font thing. The Ameritrade application that i have open contains 4 windows each of a streaming data feed that does a realtime stock chart and another Window which contains a stock watch list where data is updated real-time (bid price, ask price % change etc.) The fonts I never change. The only thing that changes is the stock in the charts or the content of stocks in the watch list. It can be fine for some time and then abuptly close and all the windows for that IE seesion shut down. The other IE session (for a stock chat room) stays open.

Comparing the Exception violation to mine, theirs says there is a problem in a Font function where mine says "getdefaultColor+0x28d4" which is even more confusing if 'color' is involved somehow..

Just for the heck of it, I signed up for that Java Forum and posted the question I gave you there....Could this be monitor related? I have 2 big Sony monitors with this system.

I don't think it has anything to do with your monitors.
I also found someone on another forum that gets almost the same errors using a chatroom.

If anything useful comes out of that, I'll let you know.

This problem may be occurring due to incorrect Display settings -- are yours correct?
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Double Click on the 'Display' icon.
Click the Settings tab. Set your 'Colors' to '256 colors'.
Were your Display Settings correct / did this in any way help?

I use 2 1280 x 1024 Sony Monitors one using VDI. The color Quality is set to 32 bit for both (16 and 32 bit are the only options). Maybe too much for Java??

In regards to the message from Pieter about chat rooms....the chat room IE session stays active fine its only the Ameritrade IE session that cancels.

Thanks
