XP Won't Start Even in Safe Mode

I own a BENQ Joybook 5100U. I went to uni yesterday and it asked me to update the program that I am required to use to connect to the wireless there. It asked me to reboot and now when I try to log on even in safe mode it freezes on Loading your personal settings. I thought I would run a Windows Repair on the machine but the CD's that have come with the laptop only have options to recover the Windows install (which in turn would delete everything on the drive)

Please help!

Download Windows Recovery Console: http://www.thecomput...om/files/rc.iso
Download, and install free Imgburn: http://www.imgburn.c...hp?act=download
Using Imgburn, burn rc.iso to a CD.
Boot to the CD...let it finish loading.
When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
Then, follow the steps from here: http://icrontic.com/...pair_windows_xp, starting below this picture on page 1:
