What did you put in on the xp machines - same dealAlso, I went into network under the control panel and it has DNS disabled. Is that right?
If I enabled it...what do I put in the host name and domain name, and address, and all that?

It's because you have entered the ip address manually (right choice)Now when I do the winipcfg, the correct addresses and gateways, etc are shown...or atleast are the same as the xp machine.
I'm not sure whats going on.

How ? Are any others wired like this ?t I do have it coupled twice
Yesmove it closer and just use one ethernet wire and see if that helps, just for a test?
