Is this the Dell laptop you posted about elsewhere?

I see from your malware posts that event viewer is showing this error also.

Error - 2/6/2009 8:35:17 PM | Computer Name = DCHP4D61 | Source = MsiInstaller | ID = 11706
Description = Product: Microsoft Office Basic Edition 2003 -- Error 1706. Setup
cannot find the required files. Check your connection to the network, or CD-ROM
drive. For other potential solutions to this problem, see C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\OFFICE11\1033\SETUP.CHM.

What does that SETUP.CHM tell you? If its not too big, post it here. Does event viewer show this error at a time before Feb.6 this year?

Its ok we won't need that.

Do you know if the Dell Recovery cds have been created for this pc? There is a fix for this but it may ask for the Dell application and driver cd. Lets be sure that Office can be repaired or replaced before running this fix. I don't think there will be a problem but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
