Hi, first question on this forum :)

I wanted to ask if anyone could explain why my hard drive space is jumping all over the place, in the past 2 days its gone (in this order) from 75gb free space to 98gb to 88gb and now in the past hour 83gb. I havent installed or uninstalled anything nor downloaded anything. Does anyone know why this is happening because its very frustrating when it goes down by 15gb in one day for no apparent reason!

Thanks :)

I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post a HJT log, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

when hibernate starts screwing up hiberfil.sys.goes wacky it will fail to get rid of the "old" stuff...
he can try SpaceMonger 1.4 get it here...run it and get a screen shot save it then later when the large discrepancy is happening...get another screenshot...post them both

I never use hibernate so when I did a disk cleanup I got rid of the hibernating file and that was a long time ago..

Disk cleanup in the properties of the hard drive. I will get screenshots when free space goes up again and then back down. Its down at the moment so it should shoot up again soon :)
