Hello killallviruses & welcome to GTG !

Did you make backup???
Do you recall what you uninstalled ( seems like a powerful uninstaller ) , i use Revouninstaller , but you have to be careful what you delete when it searches for other files related to the uninstalled program

about the 15 icon's
1. folder of some sort
2." " " " " "
3.dont know lol , never seen it before
4.DLL file / Application Extension ( DLL is short for Dynamic Link Library. A DLL is a set of functions that can be executed, or data that can be used by a Windows application. Some are for the use of a specific application, while others, such as many of those that come with Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT, can be used by more than one application at the same time )
5.folder of some sort
6." " " "
7. DLL file
8 , 9 , 10 etc are all .dll file types

Best of luck !!! , if there any effects other than unable to uninstall Windows Movie Maker ???

Hello killallviruses

Quote: "yeah I uninstalled Pinnacle Studio as it was using up alot of resources" , Fair anough

Quote: " What about those programs in PU can I uninstall those? " , I would not recommend deleting anything in the PU that you do not know anough about...

Best of luck

Editied:

PS: movie maker is installed as a part of the windows XP installation , It does not show up on either the add or remove programs or the add or remove windows components...

However... in a very rare situation of a self contained program. ie all it's dll's are located in the program directory, not where they should be in system32 directory....
you can safely delete the movie maker folder from the Programs folder and delete any shortcuts from your menu without causing any damage...

If you are able to do that there are a couple of registry entries which could / should be deleted also ( if you wish Reply back and let me know how to do so )

HOWEVER , i am woundering how come you wish to go through all the trouble for a Approx : 10MG program lol ???

I must comment though, If you are that hard-up on hard drive space... , why not buy and Exernal hard drive ???

Hello killallviruses

Try this , go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Down the left side there should be "Add/remove windows components " , Is windows movie maker listed there??? ( then you can safely remove it :))

Best of luck !

So there is left overs on your computer though ???

Maybe try re-installing , and then uninstalling correctly???

Or if there is no problems with the way it is , leave it lol

Anthony19

PS: may cause issues in time... but i cannot see it being a problem for now

Hello killallviruses

Try deleting it in Safe Mode... , As you can see it is integrated into the OS , so you may even end up needing to re-install if not careful what is deleted...

Also , registry entries would be needed to be removed via the registry editer

Could lead to system crashes / unstable...

You can also try : http://www.mvps.org/...emove_progs.htm

And there is a tool called XPlite, and
when you install it, there is an option to remove Windows Movie Maker. When
it uninstalls, it opens sysocmgr.exe and de-installs it like it would Games
and MSN Explorer
Tool can be found @ http://www.litepc.com/xplite.html

Best of luck

Anthony19
PS: Searching for system32 on my computer returns no results :)
