I have a Dell Dimension 4700 Desktop and just recently the speakers started crackling, Ive had the computer for 6 years now and had the same Dell speakers & subwoofer that came with it.

Ive tried unplugging the jack and plugging it into the front on the computer into the headphone jack and yet they still crackle

Any suggestions?

Hello killallviruses...

With 6 year old speakers, the first thing I'd try is a known good set of speakers to see if that's the problem or if the crackling is originating from other platform hardware.
