Buffer Overrun Error when joining combat arms server

Hi, I'm having problems with a buffer overrun error when trying to join a server in combat arms. I've tried running it in different compatibility modes, but that didn't help. The only way I know to get past this problem is to exclude Combat Arms from the data execution list to keep the buffer overrun error from happening. I was wondering if this is safe or could it harm my computer?
