My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your log. Your letgohome infection has proven itself to be very difficult to remove. We will do everything possible to eradicate it and cleanup your machine

1. Go to Geeks to Go
. Click on My Controls at the top right hand corner of the window. (make sure you have signed in first)
. In the left hand column, click "View Topics"
. If you click on the title of your post, you will be taken there

2. Also, while at the My Controls page, check the box to the right of your post and then scroll down.
.Where it says "unsubscribe" click the pull-down menu and select "immediate email notification"

3. Please DELETE your current HJT program from your Desktop.

4. Download the most current version of Hijackthis (v.1.99.1) to a folder of its own. HJT needs to be in its own folder so that the program itself isn't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

A. Please click on the "My Computer" icon, then the C: drive icon. Next Right click on the desktop and choose NEW from the list available then> Folder' and name the folder 'HijackThis'. The end result should resemble something like this C:\HijackThis\

B. Download Hijackthis from:HERE

C. Double Click on 'HijackThis.zip' to extract and install HijackThis.exe to the new folder.

D. Close ALL windows except HJT

E. SCAN with HJT and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')

F. POST the log in this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste')


DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS MOST OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did the online scans like you said and when i restarted my pc it would only go to the screen where you click on your user name, I clicked on it and an error came up saying "explorer.exe has failed to load"!! I am on a friends pc now i can not even get mine to work, i will check back later to see what you suggest i am desperate please help

ok I found a few things that maybe helpful, the norton antivirus had detected a virus, it was named Bloodhound.W32.EP, but it was unable to fix it because it said access to file was denied. And also on the first online scan there were 16 trojans found but it also couln not repair becase it said it was being used in another application, but there were no other applications open. I dont know what i did wrong but please help, I am now on a different pc in the house where mine is so i will be waiting. thank you so much

You must have a really infected system. Thse scans are part of routine maintenance.

Can you get it to start in Safe Mode?


How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

*Restart the computer.
*as soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
*Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
*press Enter.

no! it does not allow me to start in safe mode, the exact error is "EXPLORER.exe APPLICATION FAILURE : the application failed to initialize properly(oxc0000005). Click on ok to terminate the application."

First get it out of your mind that you did something wrong. It wasn't you. It is the infection. The trojans have probably locked on to operating files and could have deleted some of these important files.

When you buy a computer, the seller is supposed to give you what is called an OEM version of Windows.

OEM= Original Equipment Manufacturer. This is so you can repair your system if it breaks, which has happened to me twice in 3 years. Some companies, sell their product with an image of your operating system already on your hard disk. You can restore your system to the manufacturer's specs from that image. When you have one of those, you get instructions on how to use the image to get back an operating system.

If you don't have the disk, then take back your computer to where you bought it and tell them that your computer is still infected and that the first attempt at disinfection was with CWShredder , Housecall (an online anti-virus) and an anti-trojan called Moosoft.

They will probably tell you that if your system was that corrupted by the different infections, that you would be better off reformating your drive and re-installing a new operating system. They may even be able to recover your data or parts of it.

Be careful, some data folders contain virus/trojans/malware. You could be bringing the stuff back into your computer with the same result as we have now.

Well I just got my pc restored finally, I dont know what was going on with it but I am hoping it dosent happen again. I am just wondering is there a chance the infection could still be in my pc after I have restored it? If so what can I do to get rid of it before it does the same thing again?
