In the last week I have started getting audio ads coming througn my speakers when I browse the net sometimes. The first time was several days ago, the last time just now. This time the only site I went to was dictionary.com, and it was an ad for Twix or something. I don't remember what the first ad was or which site it was, but it may have been the same site (though I've been using this site with no problems for years). Then when I came to this site (and it was probably nothing to do with that, just a coincidence) some music started playing and went on for about two minutes. I actually quite liked the music, but on principle I want to stop whatever is happening on my computer without my permission. As I said I had only one page open, and I searched it for any sign of a video or imbedded player of some kind and could find none. I haven't yet tried shutting down the page to see if that stops it.
I actually have installed a dodgy programme or two in recent weeks which may well be responsible, but I have uninstalled them and removed all trace as well as I am able, and I don't know how to find the root of the problem. I checked Task Manager for any suspicious entries, but to be honest there are so many active processes on Vista that I haven't learned what they all are and I have a hard time recognising the malignant ones.
I have spyware blaster installed, and, as mentioned, Vista. Home Premium 32 bit.
Can anyone suggest a way forward? Come to think of it I'd actually kind of like to identify that piece of music too, if I can
Thanks
